Response of cowpea germplasm to bacterial blight in Uganda

چکیده
Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) walp) is a legume crop mainly grown on small scale in low–input farming systems Uganda. bacterial blight (CoBB) disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. vignicola (Burkh.) Dye increasingly becoming major hindrance to cowpea productivity. Sixty-four genotypes were evaluated for their response (CoBB). Field experiments carried out during the first and second rainy seasons using alpha lattice design with three replications. Data incidence severity, grain yield, days 50% flowering, number of seeds per pod, pod length, peduncles plant, branches plant collected. Disease severity data was used determine relative Area Under Progress Curve (rAUDPC). Results showed significant differences (P ≤ 0.001) among rAUDPC each season. The across indicated that NE 32, WC 32A, 26 44 values ranging from 0.22 0.26 resistant CoBB whereas 31 40 0.44 0.46 respectively susceptible. did not show any correlation yield its components. This study suggested 44, be as prospective parents breeding initiatives develop blight-resistant varieties due high yields resistance CoBB.

evaluation of wheat germplasm in response to salinity stress
to improve bread wheat salt tolerance, new genetic sources of salt tolerance are indispensable, and this requires a screening of wheat germplasm. in order to evaluate bread wheat germplasm, 34 accessions including; hexaploid wheats (aabbdd), tetraploid (aabb) and wild relative diploids (dd and aa genome) collected from different regions of iran were evaluated under normal vs. salinity stress (n...
متن کاملData set from a comprehensive phosphoproteomic analysis of rice variety IRBB5 in response to bacterial blight
Bacterial blight (BB) caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) has become one of the most devastating diseases for rice, a major food source for over half of the world populations. To investigate the roles of protein phosphorylation in rice bacterial blight resistance, a quantitative phosphoproteomic study was conducted in rice variety IRBB5 at 0 h and 24 h after Xoo infection. 2367 and 22...
متن کاملProteomic analysis of rice plasma membrane reveals proteins involved in early defense response to bacterial blight.
Plant plasma membrane (PM) proteins play important roles in signal transduction during defense response to an attacking pathogen. By using an improved method of PM protein preparation and PM-bound green fluorescent protein fusion protein as a visible marker, we conducted PM proteomic analysis of the rice suspension cells expressing the disease resistance gene Xa21, to identify PM components inv...
متن کاملGenome-wide association analysis identifies resistance loci for bacterial blight in a diverse collection of indica rice germplasm
Bacterial blight, which is caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), is one of the most devastating rice diseases worldwide. The development and use of disease-resistant cultivars have been the most effective strategy to control bacterial blight. Identifying the genes mediating bacterial blight resistance is a prerequisite for breeding cultivars with broad-spectrum and durable resistance. ...
